Oh the bottle

Today I am going to look at bottles and jars for all my products. I have most of the packaging picked out but I have to tie up a few loose ends.

Next on the agenda is getting the website up and running. Who knew that all this would be so time consuming? I am glad though its giving me something to do and to focus on.

Must Love Dogs

And love dogs I do. I have a dog – a 3 year old chihuahua mix named Spade. To me he is more than a dog – he is part of our family. Spade is smart, loyal and as cute as a button. Spade makes my life sweeter.

At the beginning of this week – something was wrong… Spade became withdrawn and shakey. It has been pretty cold where we live so I thought maybe he was cold and under the weather. I tried snuggling him up but then he began vomiting. I immediately called the vet and got him an appointment.

Turns out Spade is fine and just had the stomach flu but to make my dog well my pocket-book is now dangerously low on cash. For 10 minutes with the doggy doctor and a shot it cost me nearly $200. So my experience got me thinking… No wonder shelters are housing more animals than ever and euthanizing more dogs than ever as well. In this economic climate people can not afford to take care of the pets that they consider to be part of the family and its the dogs that are suffering.

Dogs are dependent on there owners – for they cannot drive themselves to the doctor if they are sick or pay for treatment, or pour themselves a bowl of water. Animal neglect is on the rise because people cannot even afford the basics for themselves. This recession is going to take everything from us.

I have been out of a job for 5 months and it sucks. I am so bored all the time. I feel like I could hibernate and I wouldn’t miss a thing. The only solace I get is in watching FOX News and yelling back at the TV with how stupid the Democratic Party is. My sister recently told me that I needed to get a hobby and that would keep me from being bored… but what do you do when you are counting out change to buy food, you don’t have a car and you sleep until 5pm everyday? Not to mention I moved 3 hours from home and the only 3 people I know here are my sister, her husband that works 80 hours a week and a 2-year-old.

So that’s where this blog comes in. What better activity for me to do while not working… I mean it’s free, I can do it in my pajamas and it doesn’t require me leaving the house.
